Open to Suggestions

Any suggestions on keeping a sick little 4 year old entertained?

Keep in mind her mother thinks Chutes & Ladders is the most annoying game ever made and must be kept to a once a day maximum. The more bearable games such as Hi-Ho Cherrio, Go Fish and Candy Land have all been played out. Arts & crafts have been done but have been somewhat disappointing without glue stick (what kind of mom doesn't have glue stick anyway?) The 1 to 2 (maybe 3) hour TV limit has been reached. Also, bear in mind this mother has major trouble keeping her eyes open whenever she reads children's books for more than a 10 minute period of time.

Thanks, my friend will greatly appreciate the suggestions.

Oh my goodness, thanks for the laugh. Let's see, tell your "friend" to cut up some colored drinking straws into about the size of macaroni noodles and string them on yarn for necklaces. It's the lazy mom's way (aka mine) of making colored macaroni necklaces. And there is always play-doh but since this other mom and I seem to have a lot in common as far as annoyances with games etc- this may not go over to well. Good luck!

You are so funny! I totally feel you on the reading books thing. Seriously what is the deal, they are like automatic sleeping pills. Too bad it doesn't work on the kids. I would suggest play dough and maybe doing some baking. My kids always love making cookies when they're sick, well actually anytime. Good luck! Oh I mean to your friend:)

TV limit time goes out the window when kids are sick. Isn't the point for them to rest anyway? What better way to rest, than to lay down on a couch in front of a tv? Now, head on over to Hastings for a stack of PBS dvd's. (I added the PBS thing so you'd feel better about the tv part.)

One day we made home made play dough, cut them with cookie cutters, baked them, and then painted them with water colors. It took most of the day. You could even glue magnets on the back. good luck!

Just do old school Jazzercizin' exercises and she can make fun of you while you do them.

I'm probably too late, but when my four-year-old needs to be entertained, I give him a pile of construction paper, a pair of scissors, and a glue stick, and tell him to surprise me. Then I go in the other room and catch up on my TiVo, because it's supposed to be a surprise, ya know?
